On 2 April 2008 The Hans Christian Andersen Museum could celebrate Andersen’s 203 Anniversary, the museum centenary, and the bicentenary of the Spanish soldiers' stay in Odense. Andersen's earliest childhood memory was distinctly attached to the Spanish troops: "I keep seeing how they rolled their canons along, I remember a soldier who carried me on his arm ...”. On the  photo you see members of the Spanish troupe "Los Voluntarios" and in front of the memorial plate at the door from the left: Chief curator Ejnar Stig Askgaard, museum assistant Solveig Brunholm, museum curator Ane Grum-Schwensen and in front of the window to the right, museum curator Ida-Marie Vorre.
