Professional profile
The primary goal of The Funen Art Museum is to research and exhibit Danish works of art from 1750 to today
Funen Art Museum’s professional profile is to a great extent defined by its collection of Danish art from 1750 to the present. Through changing exhibitions of the permanent collection it is the goal of the museum to show the artworks in many different contexts and thereby highlight its many educational and academic connections.

Jens Juel (1745 1802) Stormy Landscape, 1782
The exhibitions may highlight individual artists, artistic movements or other themes. The artworks in the exhibitions will be shown in differing relations to each other and thereby generate new perspectives on the works. Other art forms will also be included in an effort to create further and more far ranging perspectives often with an international flavor.

Our exhibitions and our educational tools will reflect this ambition. In our publications and in our events (tours, lectures, seminars, concerts and activities for children) we seek a diversity that is geared toward reaching as many people as possible and thereby further the general knowledge of art.
To help us achieve this goal our staff works with many different institutions in the art world and beyond, such as universities. There is s a special focus on our local partners such as the Funen Academy of Music, the local libraries and archives.
