With regard to the art from the local area, the museum collects artworks from Funen that date back to around 1920 when the concept of a local art was obliterated by the increased freedom of movement for artists. Nowadays the local artists are primarily catered for by the museum’s hosting of their exhibitions.
The museum shares its educational obligations on Funen with many other museums in the region such as Brandts Klædefabrik, Johannes Larsen Museet in Kerteminde and Faaborg Museum for Fynsk Malerkunst.
